It's camping season, and I thought I would share my favourite workout equipment for travel!
As we come to camping season, I thought I would share my favourite pieces of portable equipment. These items are small, light, and have multiple uses!
Bonus: most items are around or under the $20 price tag
Long resistance bands
I generally prefer the flat ones (here in purple) but the tubes are also great. One band can be adjusted for a different levels of resistance simply by bringing hands closer to each other/to the connecting spot, or further from it.
This one piece of equipment helps strengthen the upper body, lower body, and the core! Truly a total-body star.
Loop bands, both fabric and latex
Fabric ones are my favourite for around the thighs, and are great for squats, lunges, clams, etc.
As frustrating as they can be, the latex ones do have a time and place, and are great for upper body work, and around the ankles to use for hip flexors (yes, they need focus too!), core work, and booty work.
The Bender Ball
It can be deflated to make it smaller for packing, and is helpful for creating stability and instability, making moves easier or more challenging! It can be used for upper body, core, and lower body! (You see these in many of my classes!)
Yoga block
Yoga blocks are useful for more than a yoga class! First, they can be used to bring the ground to you, because “Why strive when you can arrive?” Also they can help deepen a stretch by moving the ground further from you: for example, under your feet in a forward fold.
They can be placed between your inner thighs to increase engagement in those muscles as well as your core and pelvic floor!
And we can put them under one foot in squats, bridges, and lunges, intensifying the work on one side.
Whatever your travel plans are, there is usually room for at least one of these pieces of equipment!
Stay tuned to my stories to see different ways to use these pieces of equipment while you are on the go! There will even be some full length (20 minute or less) travel workouts added to the On Demand library this fall!
Leave a comment with your favourite piece of travel equipment, or maybe your favourite move with one of these pieces!
Happy travels,
Vanessa
